Collaboration with Soliman Lopez

An installation created with motion capture data, custom software and hardware with the only purpose of conveying a sense of human presence, a digitalized body which re-materializes as analog sound.

When a virtual skeleton crosses the limits of its virtual bounding box, the physical wooden box reacts in the same area where there is a digital collision. This mechanical reactions happen due to several actuators (solenoids) installed inside the box. The system evokes some kind of telepresence in the space, blurring the borders between virtual environments and physical ones. In addition, a projection with real time visual data obtained from the skeleton’s digital joints, highlights where and when the bounding box is intersected by the digital presence.
